The Libyan Naval Forces of GNA have refuted the accusations made by Proactiva Open Arms organization, that the Tripoli-based Libyan Coast Guard abandoned three people fighting death in the Mediterranean Sea.
“The Coast Guard saves and maintains human life, despite the lack of equipment and difficult conditions,” the GNA Libyan navy said in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement said that the Tripoli-based Coast Guard is doing its best to save people and that it has no cupidities, nor agendas except the national agenda and the human spirit that is part of its beliefs.
A group of migrants have accused the Tripoli-based Libyan Coast Guard of abandoning three people in the Mediterranean, including a woman and a toddler who died after 160 migrants from Europe were intercepted near the shores of North Africa.
The organization, “Proactiva Open Arms” a Spanish rescue group, who found, on Tuesday, one woman alive and another one who was dead; in addition to the body of a toddler amid the remains of a ship of illegal migrants destroyed 80 nautical miles from the Libyan coast.
The Tripoli-based Coast Guard explained that a response would be issued later by the Navy Media Office, in which they will give details of the incident.
