TRIPOLI – The Presidential Council of Government of National Accord (GNA) issued a decree to lift the suspension of the authorized Defense Minister of GNA, Mahdi Al-Barghathi, and remove him as a Defense Minister.
Head of Presidential Council, Fayez al-Sarraj, suspended al-Barghathi from work on May 19 last year, 2017, for investigating Brak Al-Shati Military Base massacre against the Libyan National Army (LNA), but the Commission of Inquiry, announced, did not provide any results despite the passage of more than a year after the massacre.
The Presidential Council had held Al-Barghathi responsible for the massacre because he gave permission to militias to break into the base under the pretext of liberating it from mercenaries and IS groups, but Al-Barghathi denied, more than once, that he gave permission, accusing the Presidential Council.
