TRIPOLI – Tripoli water is contaminated with sewage water at high rates because of the direct pumping of sewage water on the beaches of Tripoli without treatment, says Abdul Basset al-Miri, Director of the Emergency Department of the General Authority for Environment.

Al-Miri said, in a statement to the “Libyan Business” website on Wednesday, that the pollution rate is high with two types of harmful bacteria, confirming the existence of 42 outlets for sewage water, which is pumped from 300 to 400 thousand cubic meters per day along the coast of Tripoli.
