Upcoming Libyan Elections discussed by Le Drian and Jhinaoui

Libya – Tunisian Foreign Khemaies Jhinaoui on Monday exchanged views with French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on regional and international issues of common concern.

The two sides reviewed the latest developments in the situation in Libya and the progress made in the political process aimed at creating the necessary conditions for holding legislative and presidential elections which the Libyan parties agreed on at the Paris meeting held on 29 May before the end of this year.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia stressed the importance of continuing consultations and coordination among various countries related to the Libyan file, so as to overcome the current deadlock in the political process and help expedite the achievement of a Libyan-Libyan political solution under the auspices of the United Nations.
