The Address | Benghazi – Libya

The head of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has always sought to develop relations with Moscow, LNA spokesperson Brigadier General Ahmad al-Mesmari told the Sputnik is a news agency today.

al-Mesmari pointed out that “contact with Moscow, whether official visits announced or visit to the Russian aircraft carriers, found very welcome from the Libyan people, because the Libyan people know that the current situation in Libya is difficult and wants a strong ally.”

He explained that Russia’s role in Syria was successful, adding, “In fact, Russia in Syria fought two battles or three battles, the military battle, and the second stage, the most important is the diplomatic stage led by the Russian Foreign Ministry.”

“What happened in Syria is what is happening in Libya,” he said. “The situation in Libya requires diplomatic assistance from Russia, President Putin’s intervention in person, and the expulsion of foreign players such as Turkey, Qatar and Italy.” He added.

“We are very confident that Russia is a superpower and its voice will be clearly heard,” he said.

“We militarily look forward to a very strong re-co-operation and the restoration of relations as experts. We also look forward to Russian political intervention through Russian diplomacy to prevent other countries manipulating the fate of the Libyans,” he concluded.
