Presidential Council and Eni discussing electricity projects in Libya

TRIPOLI – Fayez Al-Sarraj, Head of the Presidential Council of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), held a meeting on Wednesday with the Head of the General Electricity Corporation (GEC), Abdul Majeed Hamza, the CEO of the corporation, Ali Sassi, the Deputy CEO of Eni in the Middle East, Fuad Krekshi, and Director General of Eni in North Africa, Abdel Moneim Arifi, to discuss the implementation stages of a number of projects by Eni in the electricity sector, in addition to the re-operation of some units in electric stations, in coordination with the General Electricity Corporation.

The meeting also discussed the technical and logistical aspects of these projects, as well as the development of an urgent plan to increase the capacity of plants to meet the needs of public consumption in Libya.

The Head of GEC called on to speed the implementation of targeted projects to meet the deficit in electricity and reduce the burden on citizens.

Eni agreed on the proposal of the GEC Head during a meeting a week ago with the Executive Director to provide urgent technical assistance to support electric power projects, and the company expressed its willingness to establish new stations to contribute to resolving the electricity crisis in Libya.
