The Address | Benghazi – Libya
Tobruk – A session of the House of Representatives (HoR) was held in Tobruk today headed by Chancellor Aguila Saleh Issa, HoR president, in which the referendum bill on the draft constitution was to be voted on.
Ibrahim Zghaid, Member of Parliament, revealed, in a statement on his Facebook account, that the number of members who attended the session was to 92, stating that they discussed the subject of the referendum law and article VI, which states that Libya is divided into three constituencies represented in Cyrenaica, Fezzan, and Tripolitania.
Zghaid noted that article VI needs to be protected by amending the constitutional declaration, indicating that they agreed to amend the Constitutional Declaration in a post-Eid al-Adha session to protect this article because the constitution says that Libya is one constituency while the referendum law indicates that there are three constituencies.
He added: “At this meeting, the approval of the issuance of the referendum law will be signed and issued in a legal way from within the House of Representatives.”
