SRSG Salamé meets the Benghazi Mayor In a short visit to the second biggest Libyan city (Video)

BENGHAZI – Ghassan Salamé, Special Representative of the Secretary-General to Libya, visited the city of Benghazi today and met with the Mayor of Benghazi Chancellor Abdel Rahman el-Abbar at the Municipality headquarter in al-Berka area of Benghazi.

According to The Address correspondent, Salamé and el-Abbar discussed the latest developments in Libya and the efforts to tackle the economic crisis. They also agreed on the location of the of United Nations Support Mission branch that will be opened in the second biggest Libyan city.

As for the political track, SRSG Salamé said that the decision to hold the next Libyan elections on time or not is a sovereign decision of the Libyans. His statement comes after several protests in different Libyan cities denounced remarks made by Italy Ambassador on postponing elections.
