The Address | Benghazi – Libya
TRIPOLI – Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the UN-backed Presidential Council, issued instructions today to the Undersecretary of Defense Ministry to buy and provide weapons after the loss of sites with ammunition stores and the break-up of several battalions against him, threatening to dissolve them.
Al-Sarraj, according to his media office, also called for the development of an urgent plan to secure the arrival of ammunition and equipment to the positions of battalions affiliated with him after the withdrawal of several battalions at the entrances to Tripoli from their positions.
Several militias and armed groups loyal to the Presidential Council have retreated yesterday and lost their positions after intense clashes with the 7th Brigade forces that continue advancing in the capital. Rumors spread last night that Fayez al-Sarraj fled the capital and his whereabouts are unknown yet.
