Mogherini: EU foreign ministers will discuss the Libyan crisis in their New York meeting

LIBYA – The Libyan crisis will be on the agenda of the EU foreign ministers’ meeting, which will take place in New York later on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting, European High Representative for Foreign Policy Federica Mogherini said.

In a telephone conversation with the head of the prosed presidential council of Libya Fayez Al-Sarraj, Mogherini confirmed that the European Union supports the plan of the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salamé, and his efforts to achieve stability in the north African country.

Mogherini praised the efforts of the UN mission to Libya to reach a cease-fire agreement in Tripoli, calling on all parties to stop the fighting to abide by the truce in the interest of the country.
