Haftar is very influential in Libya while al-Sarraj lacks any control, UCFR and ISPI researcher

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

ROME – Facts show that dialogue with the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, is essential to stability in Libya, whether we like it or not, the Researcher at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies and the European Council for Foreign Relations, Stefano Torelli said.

“Haftar affects what is happening in Libya, while Head of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj, appears, increasingly, that he has no control over anything, Not even what happens in Tripoli,” the Researcher said in an interview with AKI News.

“For this reason, it is essential that there be a direct or an indirect participation of Haftar, regardless of merit or credibility,” Torelli added.

Commenting on the meeting between Italian Foreign Minister, Enzo Milanese, and Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, on Monday, the Researcher said the Minister’s visit to Benghazi was “a non-random sign that allows for clear interpretation.”
