TRIPOLI – Municipal Council of al-Andalus in Tripoli gave armed groups five days to get out of the areas and streets of the Municipality, calling at the same time on the Directorate of Security – Tripoli to activate security services.
The Council confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday night, in the presence of members of the Parliament representing the Municipality, that they would take escalating steps, including the closure of all roads in the Municipality of al-Andalus, in case of failure to respond to their demands.
The Municipal Council demanded the armed groups to hand over perpetrators in the case of killing youths from the Municipality of Hay al-Andalus to the judiciary and the release of the main witness in the case, “Ahmed Abdel Aziz al-Warimi,” detained at the Military Camp of April 7th.
The Council also called on the Tripoli Security Directorate to activate police stations and Criminal Investigation and Rescue Police within the Municipality, warning of the danger of deterioration of the security situation in the Municipality.
It is noteworthy that a number of protesters set fire on Friday night in tires of cars and closed a highway and Gurji Road because of killing a young man in al-Siahia area west of Tripoli by gunmen after they took his car in the mentioned area.
