TRIPOLI – The French government appointed her former ambassador to Malta, Beatrice de Hellen, as ambassador to Libya, succeeding Ambassador Brigitte Curmi, who was appointed an ambassador to her country in Malta.

In her first public political activity, the new ambassador met with chairman of the High State Council Khaled al-Mashri, accompanied by his second deputy Faouzi al-Akab, Sunday in Tunis, according to a statement published by the council on its official Facebook page yesterday.

The meeting discussed the security situation in the Libyan capital of Tripoli. Al-Mashri emphasized “the danger of any new war in Libya,” stressing “the capability of resolving all issues through dialogue, and the need to implement the security arrangements stated in the political agreement.”
