Escalation of security tension in Tripoli

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – Security tension escalates in Tripoli as clashes erupt between armed groups in the suburbs of the capital.

Residents of Ain Zara, south of Tripoli, reported that residential neighborhoods in Ain Zara, Al-Sabaa, Nasser University and Wali-Alahd Street at the Airport Road are under indiscriminate shelling.

This comes as rival GNA-funded militias, namely the so-called “Central Security Forces Abu Salim” and the so-called “Brigade of Somoud”, exchange accusations over responsibility for breaching the cease-fire agreement, which was brokered by UN Support Mission in Libya in the city of Zawiya last week.
