Tripoli clashes force 77 families to leave the municipality of Abu Salim

TRIPOLI – The head of the Higher Committee for Return of the Displaced, Abdul Baqi al-Bouaishi, announced the displacement of 77 families on Friday from the municipality of Abu Salim as a result of clashes in the southern suburbs of the capital Tripoli.

“These families were distributed to the shelters inside the municipality, but away from the places of the clashes,” Al-Boaishi said in a telephone interview with Alwasat news website . “There are people who went to relatives or rented outside the municipality.”

Tripoli has witnessed deadly clashes since August 26th which resulted in the death of more than 100 people, while hundreds others are injured, displaced and missing. UN Support Mission in Libya recently brokered a cease-fire agreement between rival militias funded by the Government of National Accord; however, clashes erupted again in southern Tripoli since Tuesday morning.
