The Address | Benghazi – Libya
TRIPOLI – A military source affiliated with the proposed Government of National Accord claimed that “warring parties in Tripoli are supported by foreign powers.” Sputnik reported today.
The Russian news agency quoted the source as saying, “the conflicting parties in Tripoli are seeking their personal interests, and supported by some of the different foreign parties, where some forces stand behind the Seventh Brigade, and another behind the battalions in Tripoli.”
“The situation in Tripoli is out of control so far and it can not be predicted whether clashes will stop or increase its frequency”, the source stated.
Tripoli has witnessed deadly clashes between rival GNA-funded militias since August 26th, which resulted in the death of more than 100 people, while hundreds of others are injured, displaced and missing.
The Libyan National Army (LNA), which controls the whole Cyrenaica east of Libya and major parts of the south and the west, has announced yesterday that it has nothing to do with the clashes between the GNA-funded militias in Tripoli, pointing out that all the areas under its control enjoy security and peace, after extremist militias were defeated last year by LNA forces.
