Moavero: EU must be more active to stabilize Libya

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

NEW YORK – Italian Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi said in his first day in New York in the margins of the UN General Assembly that the European Union must be more active to stabilize Libya.

“Relations with France, in Libya, are animated on both sides by the goal of stabilization, but Libya, too, should be the object of a more active attention by the EU” Moavero said.

“It is not an Italian-French question, it should be a goal for Europe to have a stable area”, he added.

The Italian government is holding an international conference on Libya in Sicily mid-November. The conference will be tackling the current situation in Tripoli as well as the prospect of holding elections in the country in December.
