TRIPOLI – The military and security units of the so-called “Tripoli Protection Force” (battalion of the revolutionaries of Tripoli and 301 infantry and central security Abu Salim) published today photos confirm their control over al-Naqlia camp by airport road after armed clashes resulted in the withdrawal of the so-called Somuod Brigade led by Salah Badi from the region.
Leaders of “Tripoli Protection Force” considered the control of the strategic camp an important point towards defeating armed groups attacking the capital as they describe it.
It is noteworthy that this is the first appearance of the commander of battalion 301 since the outbreak of clashes in the capital and the withdrawal of the battalion members from their positions in the area of Suwani and Keremiyah south of the capital.
Tripoli recently witnessed violent clashes between rival militias all funded by the proposed Government of National Accord, which resulted in the killing of more than 100 people, while hundreds of others were wounded, displaced, or missing.
On the other hand, the Libyan National Army spokesman Brigadier General Ahmed al-Massmari said that LNA has nothing to do with the ongoing clashes between the militias in Tripoli, and that the army continues to fully secure all the areas under its control such as the entire region of Cyrenaica east of Libya, and large parts of the south and the Libyan west.
