TRIPOLI – The Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord welcomed the response of conflicting militias to the cease-fire and deescalation of the situation in the capital Tripoli.
The Council expressed via a statement its hope that these clashes would be the last of its kind, pointing out the importance of absorbing the lessons learned from the events so as not to recur.
The statement added that such events are a loss for the country, pointing out that fighting opens the opportunity for terrorism to infiltrate and carry out his crimes.
The Council stressed opposition’s right to freedom of opinion, expression and criticism, and that it understood the call for reform in all legitimate ways and means.
The Council stated that it was ready to implement security arrangements to secure the ceasefire, indicating its keenness to end the security, political and economic crisis.
