Arrest of a gang involved in the smuggling of migrants from Libya to Italy

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

ROME – Italian police arrested on Wednesday a gang involved in the smuggling of migrants from Libya to Italy, Italian news agency ANSA reported.

Italian police said the mastermind of the smuggling was a merchant from Bangladesh who was receiving 6,000 euros from migrants before moving them from Libya to Italy, where they obtained a residence permit for humanitarian reasons, which allowed them to arrive in Liguria.

The Italian news agency explained that after arriving in Liguria, migrants were forced to work for companies owned by businessmen and paid for sleeping in property they had rented.
