Shoukry and Le Drian discuss Libya

NEW YORK – Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian held on Thursday bilateral talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York where they discussed the situation in Libya.

Shoukry stressed the importance of developing a plan to implement the UN initiative on Libya, and the need for comprehensive treatment of the crisis, the unification of Libyan military and security institutions, and not to allow militias to control the county, according to a statement by Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

For his part, the French minister touched on the seriousness of the developments in Libya, and reviewed the contacts made by France in this regard.
