TRIPOLI – The Interior Ministry affiliated with the proposed Government of National Accord refuted allegations of a BBC report, which was broadcast last Wednesday, accusing the Libyan Coast Guard and police officers of illegal activities.

The ministry said in a statement that the relevant bodies were reviewing the report, and that it had begun its investigations in this regard, stressing that its official position was clear not to tolerate human trafficking and illegal exploitation of immigrants.

The ministry concluded by inviting all international partners to provide greater support to counter this phenomenon, while also claiming that ships and vessels of relief organizations encourage migrants to embark on these dangerous trips.
