The Address | Benghazi – Libya
MOSCOW – The Government of National Accord’s Minister of Economy Nasser al-Derssi, who headed a Libyan delegation that visited Moscow last week, said in an interview published Monday in the Russian daily Kommersant that his government will buy from Russia a million tons of wheat to ensure “food security of the country”.
“We would like to buy one million tonnes of wheat from Russia to supply us for the year”, said al-Derssi, adding, “my priority as Minister of Economy is the country’s food security”.
We also need feed for livestock development, and if we agree on supplying these two important products – wheat for bread and fodder – we can make a single transaction worth $ 700 million, “said the minister. The Libyan minister also claimed to have discussed with his Russian counterparts a planned railway construction by Russia, interrupted by the war.
