TRIPOLI – Management of Mitiga International Airport announced via its Facebook page the resumption of flights which were suspended hours ago due to a bombing attack on the airport.
The so-called ‘Tripoli Youth Movement’ claimed responsibility over the targeting of Mitiga airport early Tuesday with a missile type Rajame 170, while justifying the bombing with the presence of another militia in the airport, the so-called Special Deterrent Force (Rada’a) affiliated with the proposed Government of National Accord.
This is not the first time that the airport has been targeted by indiscriminate rockets. Tripoli recently witnessed violent clashes between rival militias all funded by the proposed Government of National Accord, which resulted in the killing of more than 100 people, while hundreds of others were wounded, displaced, or missing.
