UNSMIL called upon the Presidential Council to swiftly endorse the plan and begin its implementation.
Tripoli recently witnessed violent clashes between rival militias all funded by the proposed Government of National Accord, which resulted in the killing of more than 100 people, while hundreds of others were wounded, displaced, or missing.
It is noteworthy that the Security Arrangements Committee was formed by the Presidential Council after an agreement with the conflicting militias on a cease-fire in exchange for the removal of all armed formations out of state institutions and replace them with regular forces.
