The Address | Benghazi – Libya
TRIPOLI – The head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, met Saturday with the president and members of the Security Arrangements Committee at the council headquarters in Tripoli. The meeting discussed the security arrangements in Greater Tripoli.
The head of the committee, Major General Hammad Ahmed Abboud, provided a detailed explanation of the measures taken to ensure security in Greater Tripoli.
Tripoli recently witnessed violent clashes between rival militias all funded by the proposed Government of National Accord, which resulted in the killing of more than 100 people, while hundreds of others were wounded, displaced, or missing.
It is noteworthy that the Security Arrangements Committee was formed by the Presidential Council after an agreement with the conflicting militias on a cease-fire in exchange for the removal of all armed formations out of state institutions and replace them with regular forces.
