The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BENGHAZI – British ambassador Frank Baker announced during his third visit in Benghazi a new project which will spend £1.5 million over the next two years to create a safer environment for communities in Benghazi by removing the explosive remnants of the war against ISIS.

“It’s an opportunity to come back and see progress over the past couple of months since I was here and at the same time the opportunity to announce a further cash-funding that the United Kingdom is going to put in into the whole area around demining; that is removing the IDs and the mines that were left behind by Daesh [ISIS] when they were defeated and kicked out of Benghazi”, said Baker in a short video posted by the British Embassy.

During his visit, the ambassador met with Mayor of Benghazi, Abdelrahman Elabbar, as well as representatives of local civil society organizations.
