The Address | Benghazi – Libya
BRUSSELS – President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, met on Thursday in Brussels with mayor of Tripoli, Abdelraouf Beitelmal, and mayor of Zintan, Mustafa Mohammed Albaroni, whom were in Brussels for the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly, Italian news agency ANSA reported.
Tajani described the meeting as “a very positive meeting”. He said that the two mayors “asked Europe to speak with one voice”, arguing that too many national initiatives risk disrupting the facilitation of the peace process and the facilitation of a unified solution in Libya.
Tajani added that “everyone’s goal is to go with a new constitution to new elections” in Libya, but the two mayors “believe it is difficult to do so by the end of the year”.
