BRASILIA – Former Brazilian Finance Minister, Antonio Palocci, confirmed that late Libyan dictator, Muammar Gaddafi, had financed the presidential campaign of former Brazilian president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in 2002, according to Brazilian magazine Crusoe.

Lula da Silva personally took care of that illegal transfer of money by Gaddafi to his campaign and the Workers Party (PT), which amounts to one million dollars.

Palocci also said that Lula da Silva asked for 15 million reals from a contractor for Odebrecht, a Brazilian company implicated in many fraud cases,  to “silence” his campaign strategist, Duda Mendonça , who threatened to “hand over everything”.
