Clashes between GNA-funded militias in Tripoli

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – 12 people were killed and wounded in clashes that erupted on Friday in Tripoli between militias funded by the proposed Government of National Accord in the latest violation of a truce sponsored by United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

The clashes came only one day after Fathi Bash Agha took office as new interior minister in the proposed Government of National Accord.

GNA, headed by Faiz al-Sarraj, issued no comment on the reports from Tripoli, which appeared to be an armed fight between the security battalion of the Ministry of Defense affiliated with Tripoli-based government and the battalion of the Huaza al-Naam camp of the Ministry of the Interior of the same government, located in the area of Tajoura, east of Tripoli.
