Milanesi affirms European commitment to support the Palermo conference on Libya

LUXEMBOURG – Italian Foreign Minister, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, said that discussion of the European Union’s foreign ministers in Luxembourg on Monday was “a test of consensus and common conviction for the support of the Palermo conference” scheduled for 12-13 November.

“Member States and EU institutions have clearly reaffirmed their commitment to speak with one voice and to pursue joint and interrelated efforts to achieve security in Libya,” the Italian minister told reporters on the margins of  the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg.

Milanesi added that the Palermo conference “falls within the framework of the United Nations plan of action to overcome the Libyan crisis”.
