The Address | Benghazi – Libya
BRUSSELS – President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, called upon European countries for unify their positions on Libya in order to achieve stabilization in the country.
Speaking at a press conference in the margins of the European Council on Wednesday, Tajani stated that “I have appealed to all the States of the European Union during my speech to speak in Libya with one voice”.
Tajani also said that the divergence of the positions of the Member States constitutes an obstacle to peace in Libya.
“More member states that have different interlocutors in Libya means never reaching an agreement and this is not in the interest of Europe and not even in the interest of the countries that are acting with greater commitment in Libya”.
Tajani reiterated that “we need a single voice to achieve a goal that is the stabilization of Libya and the pacification of an area, the sub-Saharan one, which is experiencing difficult times”.
