Pope Francis: Libya’s migrant jails are like concentration camps

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

ROME – Pope Francis Pontiff criticized, in media statements published on Wednesday, the Italian government’s policy of sending migrants, who attempt to seek refuge in Europe, back to Libya where they face abuse as documented by several human rights organizations.

“When governments send back those who had succeeded in saving themselves, the traffickers put them in those prisons, where the most horrible tortures are practiced.”, said Pontiff.
