The Address | Benghazi – Libya

CAIRO – The meetings of the Libyan military unification committees continued in Cairo under Egyptian auspices. The participants stressed the statements made at previous meetings, in which it was agreed that the General Command of the Libyan Natioanl Army (LNA), under the leadership of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, is the main front of the Libyan National Army, said Brigadier General Ahmed al-Mesmari, Spokesman of LNA.

It was also agreed to form three leadership councils: the National Security Council, the Supreme Defense Council and the General Command Council, al-Mesmari stated.

The participants also agreed on the organizational structure, tasks and duties of each of the three councils as well as on some proposals to address the problem of armed militias deployed in the Western Region (Tripolitania), he added.

There was no discussion of any new developments or initiatives presented by the Egyptian side, as rumored in the media about the formation of a military council and putting up names for its membership, according to the spokesman of LNA.
