Aguila Saleh and Obeidat tribal elders discuss GNA’s appointment of al-Isawi

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

AL QUBBAH – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, met on Sunday with sheikhs and dignitaries of the Obeidat tribe from Abruq to Tobruk to discuss the appointment of Ali al-Isawi, a suspect in the case of the assassination of General Abdul Fatah Younis, as Minister of Economy by the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord.

In this regard, the Obeidat tribal elders declared their protest against the appointment of Ali al-Isawi because he is accused in an assassination case and has not complied with the investigations so far. The Obeidat tribal elders considered this decision by the head of the Presidential Council as an insult to the Obeidat tribe and all tribes of Cyrenaica.

The Obeidat tribal elders also called for a meeting with all eastern tribes to determine a unified position towards what was presented by chairman of Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and its members.
