NIAMEY – The Italian Ambassador to Niger, Marco Prencipe, was received by the President of the Republic, Mahamadou Issoufou, today at the Presidential Palace of Niamey. The diplomat handed a letter of invitation from Italy’s Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, to Issoufou for the Italy-hosted conference on Libya, scheduled in Palermo from 12 to 13 November 2018.

“The goal of the conference is to dynamize the process led by the UN and guarantee full support for the mediating role of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Libya, Ghassan Salamé, and his efforts to facilitate an inclusive political process under Libyan control.”, said Prencipe.

The Italian diplomat stressed that the conference, with and for Libya, wants to involve Niger in a decisive manner, in the right line of attention given by Niger to Libya.
