La Repubblica: Unprecedented security measures for the Palermo conference

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

ROME – Preparations are under way in the Sicilian capital of Palermo to host the International Conference on Libya on November 12-13, amidst secret and high-level security arrangements that began two weeks ago, Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported.

La Repubblica revealed that the upcoming conference will be held at Villa Igiea, a seaside hotel that last year hosted the OECD’s Mediterranean conference on migration. It stated that expected guests for the Libyan conference are “much more important” and therefore ” the city will be armored”.

The newspaper also said that Palermo will be locked and not only the route between the Falcone-Borsellino airport and Villa Igiea, but also the city center, where probably the distinguished guests will choose the hotels and maybe some relaxing moments to visit the monuments.
