The Address | Benghazi – Libya
BENGHAZI – Former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Dabbashi, said, during a telephone interview on Libya Al-Hadath, that the security situation in most Libyan cities prevents holding elections in the country.
He stated that it’s impossible to conduct elections even in the first half of next year also unless there is a legal and constitutional basis for it and to be followed by other logistical and security arrangements.
The former diplomat said that” recent Tripoli events have shaken the reputation of Al-Sarraj in the eyes of the international community and proved that he does not even control the capital”.
Dabbashi held the House of Representatives and the High Council of State responsible for elections delay. He accused the House of Representatives of failure to reach agreement on the constitutional basis of the elections and the issuance of the election law.
