WASHINGTON – United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) denied on its official Twitter page reports alleging that its commander, General Thomas D. Waldhauser, visited the Libyan city of Sirte on Tuesday.
Contrary to media reports, Gen Waldhauser, #AFRICOM Commander, was NOT in Sirte, Libya Oct. 30. AFRICOM officials did NOT meet with officials in Sirte. We can confirm Gen Waldhauser was in Stuttgart, Germany at the time of the alleged meetings.

AFRICOM said that it can confirm that General Waldhauser was in Stuttgart, Germany at the time of the alleged visit.
Media reports surfaced on Tuesday claiming that General Waldhauser visited Sirte and allegedly met with a number of officials including the commander of the local security forces, Al-Naas Abdullah Al-Naas, and Mayor Mukhtar Al-Madani.
