Al Sarraj asks Chairman of UN Sanctions Committee for managing frozen fund and lifting the arms embargo

TRIPOLI – Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al Sarraj, met on Thursday with Chairman of UN Security Council Sanctions Committee on Libya, Olof Skoog, and Vice-Chair, Louise Oftedal, at the Presidential Council headquarters in Tripoli.

According to a statement by the Tripoli-based government, Al Sarraj stressed “the importance of a comprehensive review of the sanctions imposed on Libya and to determine the feasibility of its continuation, which became an obstacle to the rotation of the economy and the start of the development process.”

In this regard, Al Sarraj asked to “manage the funds frozen abroad and not lift the freeze” and he asked for lifting the arms embargo to “combat terrorism and illegal migration”.
