Al-Sarraj demands from Italy that UN sponsor military unification instead of Cairo

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – A leaked document obtained by The Address reveals eight requests made by the Presidential Council of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord, led by Fayez al-Sarraj, which the latter demands from Italy to include in the final statement to be issued following the Palermo conference on November 15.

An undeclared letter delivered by the political adviser to the chairman of the Presidential Council, Al-Tahir al-Sunni, to the Italian Government in Rome during a visit accompanied by the Ambassador of Libya to the European Union, the former Ambassador to Italy, Hafez Kaddour.

The letter handed down by Sunni in the days leading up to Al-Sarraj’s visit to Rome on October 26 included eight claims

Their demands, which they want to guarantee, include an implicit sign to withdraw the issue of Libyan military unification from Egypt and hand it over to the United Nations.

Late October, Libyan military figures held a meeting sponsored by Egypt in Cairo, in which they agreed to form a council of general command. However, spokesperson of the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Ahmed Al-Messmari, said the agreement until it was signed by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, General Commander of the Libyan National Army.
