The Address | Benghazi – Libya
ALGIERS – Italy’s Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, arrived on Monday in Algeria where he met his counterpart, Ahmed Ouyahia. Conte “spoke extensively about Libya” with Ouyahia and invited him to the Italy-hosted conference on Libya which is scheduled for Palermo on November 12th and 13th.
During a joint press conference with Ouyahia, Conte said “the institutional consolidation, the economic and social development of the country can only advance through a process of inclusive dialogue and reconciliation that is guided by the United Nations in respect of the prerogatives that are proper to the Libyan people.”
He stated that “it is fundamental that the international community – and Algeria is a country that is fully involved in this process – supports with the utmost cohesion the work of the United Nations in the path of stabilization of Libya”.
Conte expressed his hope that “Algiers will ensure this important contribution and can contribute concretely and direct the democratic process that we all hope for Libya”.
