The Address | Benghazi – Libya
BENGHAZI – Marshal Khalifa Haftar announced his intention not to participate in the Palermo conference hosted by the Italian government in mid-November, according to diplomatic sources to The Address today.
The sources said that the absence of Marshal Haftar as the General Commander of the Libyan National Army is a sign of failure of the Palermo conference before it was even born. The absence of one of the most dominant forces in Libya is a failure for the Italian government in Libya, the sources added.
Last month, sources told The Address that Marshal Haftar is expected not to attend the conference because of the lack of clarity of the goals behind it, and the lack of a specific agenda for the conference, in addition to not knowing the personalities to be invited.
