TRIPOLI – Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ghassan Salamé, received on Tuesday the final report on the consultative phase of the Libyan National Conference process.
According to a statement by UNSMIL, the report, prepared by the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), presents the findings of the nationwide public consultations which took place from April to July 2018.
Overall, 77 peaceful public consultation meetings were convened across all segments of Libyans society in more than 40 locations all over Libya, as well as with diaspora groups resident abroad.
The document highlights the main points of consensus reached during the consultation meetings and demonstrates the unity that exists between Libyans on key issues relating to their government, security and defense, as well as the direction they want their country to take.
Salamé intends to share the report’s key findings with the UN Security Council during his November 8th briefing.
