BENGHAZI – The Interior Ministry of the Interim Government announced on Thursday the completion of equipping two security forces reinforced with various types of weapons and equipment to extend security in the southern region of Libya (Fezzan).
Two forces were equipped following instructions from Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thani and in coordination with the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Interior Minister, Councilor Ibrahim Bushnaf, said.
The cabinet decided to allocate 100 million Libyan dinars to support security in the south, equipped with more than 100 four-wheel-drive vehicles loaded with medium-range weapons, in addition to short and long-range communication devices, he added.
These armed vehicles were provided with logistical support consisting of light weapons for individuals, in addition to ambulances, fuel transport vehicles, supplies and ammunition, Bushnaf said.
