PALERMO – Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord, Fayez Al-Sarraj, accused the European Union of hypocrisy regarding the migration crisis in a recent interview with Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera.
Al-Sarraj said, “I see so much hypocrisy in European demands on our country. You are asking us to keep more than 600,000 migrants within our borders, of which only 30,000 are in the official camps of our government. But you, who are infinitely richer than us, refuse to accept even just one. Hunt the few who arrive. I would like more cooperation. In reality, migration is a common, shared problem. Also because between them there may be infiltrates of ISIS. Our police and information services must work together if they want to avoid the worst and block international trafficking in human beings “.
