Governor of Tripoli-based CBL participates in the 8th session of the Council of Governors of the Maghreb Central Banks

TUNIS – The 8th session of the Council of Governors of the Central Banks of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) was held on Saturday with the participation of Governor of the Tripoli-based Central Bank of Libya and Governors of the Central Banks of Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania and the Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union.

The meeting reviewed means of effective cooperation at the level of Maghreb central banks, and it was agreed that the Central Bank of Tunisia would assume the functions of the General Secretariat of the Council.

A number of recommendations have been issued, among them the formation of technical committees to exchange experiences and standardize policies on “modern financial techniques, encrypted currency, financial inclusion, Islamic banking, combating money laundering and financing of terrorism”.
