TRIPOLI – Spokesman of the head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Mohamed El Sallak, on Monday denied statements made by Tunisian Foreign Minister Khamis al-Jihainawi about an agreement with Libya to return to the so-called “clearing mechanism,” which allows Tunisia to import Libyan oil in return for allowing Libya to import various Tunisian goods. .
“We categorically deny what is being said on the export of Libyan oil to the Tunisian side in return for food commodities,” El Sallak said on his personal account on Twitter.

It is noteworthy that al-Jihainawi said during a meeting before the Tunisian parliament’s foreign relations committee on Thursday that a high-ranking delegation had visited Libya to discuss the agreement.
Al-Jihainawi pointed out that the talks are continuing in the framework of an equal partnership that ensures the interests of the two countries.
