TRIPOLI – A source revealed to 218 News TV the names chosen to form a committee responsible for identifying the company that will be hired to review the accounts of the Central Bank of Libya in Al-Bayda and Tripoli in the past three years.
The source confirmed that the committee will include the head of the Currency Printing Team Ali Jahani representing Al-Bayda CBL branch, while Fathi Akoub is likely to represent the Tripoli branch.
The source, who asked not to be named, added that the committee will also include an American economist “named Walker,” an international representative selected by Stephanie Williams, the UN Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs in Libya.
Early this November, Ghassan Salamé, the UN envoy to Libya, met in Tunis with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya Tripoli, Seddik al-Kabir, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya in Al-Bayda, Ali Al-Hebri.
Both rival governors agreed on a mechanism for implementing an international audit for the CBL accounts, according to a statement by UNSMIL.
