Gaddafi pressured Chad to break off diplomatic ties with Israel 46 years ago, Jerusalem Post reported

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

ISRAEL – The President of Chad, Idriss Déby, arrived in Jerusalem on Sunday, 46 years after then-Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi pressured Chad to break off diplomatic ties with Israel. That break came even before the big wave of African countries severed diplomatic ties with Israel after the 1973 War, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Chad’s decision in 1972 came with the central African country believing it could gain more from good ties with Gaddafi’s Libya than with Israel, according to The Jerusalem Post.
